Empty Beside Me

I sleep so much better

When I’m not the only one there

Empty beside me

Where you should be

Nerves of Steel

Nerves of steel
The surrounding breaking down
A shiver of panic
It now begins
Prepared and ready
Stand up straight
Holding true
Do not falter

Slow in waves
Ebbs and flows
Things come and go
Sometimes staying
Often leaving soon
Little control available

Warm skin and sweet hair
lying together
resting peacefully
Snuggles and cuddles
The best of all
Time spent with friends

A crushing void within

Fills with water turns to ice

Solid once more

And flawed within

Snow and rain swirls

Names changed
Facts blurred
Differing stories
but are they
Is one wrong
one and the same
something happened
Yet history continues
Time does not stop
And does not care for going back
Here and now
The past has happened
The future yet to come

Glass.

Bits of dust
Grit melted down
Molded and burnt
Clarified, purified
Now clear and true
Glass.

Empty spaces
Time slows to a lull
Forgotten space
left to fill
Surrounded on all sides
By time stretched thin
Packed full and busy
Not a breath of air
Until it is unexpected
The monotony of tasks slows
A moment of rest
And then gone

A move is made.
Nearly flawless in its execution.
The epitome of a well thought plan,
Where success is almost guaranteed.
Not a step misplaced,
But unforeseen obstacles occurred.
Originally hopeful,
The move was played well.
Although it failed,
There was no huge loss.
A wonderful move.
Apart from the obvious,
It’s a shame it didn’t work.
The fool begins again,
Imagining the next move.
It will have to wait,
Until the dust settles.
Another action played too soon
Will only cause more harm.

Blink

“The angel opens her eyes
The confusion sets in..”
You can’t look away
So perfect and pure
Such a shame they can’t be yours
But why are they there?
Shining and bright
Standing so plainly
Waiting for light.
Will you be the one
To show her the way?
Now you’ll never know
As you blink and she is gone.
